If you're searching for PTSD treatment in Wellesley, you've probably encountered two frustrations: therapists who promise to “help with trauma” without any defined approach, and treatments that drag on indefinitely without measurable progress.
Onto Therapy was built to offer something different. We deliver the three most rigorously studied PTSD treatments available, in a structured format with measurable outcomes and a defined endpoint.
The three treatments we offer
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). A 12-session protocol that helps you identify and shift the trauma-related beliefs that have shaped how you see yourself, others, and the world. One of the most extensively researched PTSD treatments in the world.
Prolonged Exposure (PE). An evidence-based therapy that helps you safely process traumatic memories and reduce avoidance. PE has decades of research showing it produces lasting symptom relief for the majority of clients who complete it.
Written Exposure Therapy (WET). A five-session protocol — significantly shorter than CPT or PE — designed for clients who want effective trauma treatment in a compressed timeframe. Strong outcome data with one of the lowest dropout rates of any trauma protocol.
Who we treat
We work with adults across Wellesley, Needham, Newton, Weston, Natick, Dover, and Wayland who are navigating:
• Symptoms following a single traumatic event — accident, assault, medical emergency, sudden loss
• Complex trauma from chronic or repeated experiences
• Military or first-responder trauma
• Trauma underlying chronic anxiety, depression, or relationship struggles
• Symptoms that haven't responded to general talk therapy
What to expect
Treatment begins with a comprehensive assessment so we can recommend the protocol best suited to you. From there, you'll know exactly what the treatment plan involves, how long it should take, and what progress will look like along the way. Every session includes brief outcome measurement so we can track and adjust care.
Exposure-based therapies sometimes feel intimidating from the outside. They shouldn't be approached lightly — but the research is unambiguous: well-delivered exposure work is among the most effective interventions in mental health, and most clients describe meaningful symptom relief by the midpoint of treatment.
Why Onto for trauma care
Hospital-trained leadership. Onto was founded by Kerry Rivard, LMHC, former Program Director of the 3-East DBT Residence at McLean Hospital. Our Scientific Advisor is Douglas Katz, PhD, on staff at Massachusetts General Hospital and Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.
Protocol fidelity. We deliver CPT, PE, and WET as they were designed and studied — not loosely or eclectically. Protocol fidelity is what makes these treatments work.
Measurement-based care. We track your symptoms every session so we can see what's working and adjust if it's not.
