Therapy in Wellesley, designed to make meaningful, lasting change.

Structured, evidence-based care for adults, teens, and families across MetroWest Boston.

If you're searching for a therapist in Wellesley, you've likely noticed how much therapy looks the same — open-ended weekly sessions, no clear goals, no defined endpoint. Onto Therapy was built to offer something different.

We are a Wellesley-based mental health practice offering Values-Based Transdiagnostic Psychotherapy alongside gold-standard evidence-based treatments. Our care is structured, measurable, and designed around your goals, your pace, and meaningful progress — not therapy that lasts forever.

Who we work with

We serve adults, teens, young adults, and families throughout Wellesley and the surrounding MetroWest communities of Needham, Newton, Weston, Natick, Dover, and Wayland. Our clients come to us looking for:

  • Care that's grounded in research, not guesswork

  • Structured programs with measurable progress

  • Clinicians with hospital-grade training

  • A practice that treats therapy as a meaningful investment, not an indefinite commitment

What makes Onto different

Hospital-trained leadership. Onto was founded by Kerry Rivard, LMHC, former Program Director of the 3-East DBT Residence at McLean Hospital. Our Scientific Advisor is Douglas Katz, PhD, on staff at Massachusetts General Hospital and Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

Structured, evidence-based programs. Every engagement starts with a comprehensive intake, a treatment plan with measurable goals, and a defined timeline. You'll know what you're investing in and what progress looks like.

Gold-standard trauma care. We offer the three most rigorously studied PTSD treatments available: Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Written Exposure Therapy (WET).

DBT-informed care. Kerry's years directing McLean's flagship DBT residence give Onto unusual depth in dialectical behavior therapy — particularly for teens and young adults navigating intense emotions.

Membership for graduates. When active treatment ends, our optional Membership is there for whenever you want to step back in — for a tune-up, a group, or a skill-building session. Used as needed, not as a subscription.

How we treat

We offer focused, evidence-based programs across several areas:

  • Transdiagnostic Psychotherapy for anxiety, depression, and complex presentations

  • PTSD Treatment using CPT, PE, and WET

  • DBT-Informed Therapy for emotion regulation and distress tolerance

  • Teen and Young Adult Therapy

  • Family Therapy for parent-teen conflict and family communication

  • Care Management for families navigating aging parents and complex care

Serving Wellesley and MetroWest Boston

Our in-person sessions are held in Wellesley, and we offer telehealth throughout Massachusetts. Our clients come to us from Wellesley, Needham, Newton, Weston, Natick, Dover, Wayland, and beyond. Many are parents of students at Wellesley High School, Dana Hall, Wellesley College, Babson, or Olin. Many are professionals balancing demanding careers with the desire for meaningful, structured mental health support.

Billing and access

Onto is out-of-network private pay. We provide superbills monthly for clients submitting for out-of-network reimbursement. We accept FSA and HSA. This model lets us deliver longer intakes, structured protocols, and provider coordination — without the constraints of insurance-driven care.

What happens next

The best way to know if Onto is the right fit is a free 20-minute consultation. We'll discuss your goals, answer your questions, walk through our approach and pricing, and help you decide whether to schedule a full intake.
